Mama, Just Killed a Man

I've been 21 for three days now.

Can't say I feel any different really, which is somewhat of a change from previous birthdays. Usually I wake up feeling...changed. If not more grown up than at least altered, variant, unusual. But alas, no such fanfare Sunday morning. There's a chance that celebrating (in more ways than one) before the actual day lessened the occasion but it hasn't been that way in the past.

I started out the festivities with a Banana Leaf dinner on Thursday night to celebrate not only my brithday, but the birthday of H's close friend B. She went above and beyond (for someone I've only met three or four times) and gave me a beautiful bracelet that I would probably never buy for myself but will certainly wear. A Bayside Tigers t-shirt from A's family was another nice treat. I didn't originally recognize the highschool as the one from Saved by the Bell. Now that I do however, I think the shirt is extra special!

Friday was next with a Canucks game at A's, CAKE, and presents from my besties. I don't know how they did it, but they managed to find a shirt that DOESN'T make my boobs look bigger than they are and actually fits me everywhere else. Woopwoop! I also got a pedicure which I will probably go in for after Mexico when my feet are gross.

Yay besties!

We kept things rolling at the Legion where cheap drinks, random friends, and a free shot from our waitress ensued! P, N, S, S, R, G, J, K, J...the list goes on. So many amazing friends showed up and while I still missed my good friend B very much, there was little else to complain about.

When the Legion closed at 12:30 we headed to Mr. Sub after a quick pit stop across the street for a beer. Many giant sandwiches later, A and I headed home and actually got a solid sleep, which was really nice. For the first time in a long time, I was hangover free in the morning.

Saturday was pretty low-key but I did manage to drop seven pairs of pants and three dresses off at the drycleaners to be hemmed. I told them I definitely need my things back by this coming Friday and I hope they come through or else my suitcase for Mexico is going to be a little empty (oops)! I also made my over to the mall and picked up two pairs of Haviana's for my trip as well as a black bathing suit bottom (really cheap) to go with the top I bought a few days ago. Then I had to race home to meet A for our date! He asked me what I wanted for my birthday this year because he was having a bit of trouble (I don't blame him...I want a lot of things in life but few are realistic as little presents for birthdays and the like). Anyway, all I really felt like I wanted when it came down to it was some time with him. Exams, work, school, assignments, dodgeball, and LIFE have been putting a TEENY TINY strain on the relationship. I just miss him.

And, as if I had planned it myself, A came through with the perfect combination of a gorgeous dinner at Joe Fortes and a movie (my choice) immediately after. I ate an entire crab, need I say more?

Texts started rolling in at about 12:03am Sunday and of course, my facebook wall was thoroughly raped by well wishers stopping by to say a quick Happy Birthday. Unlike A, I don't really mind the randoms coming to do this on my page, it's often a nice segway into a real conversation with people I haven't had the chance to speak to in awhile. A and I went to have breakfast with my mum at 9th ave and S was there although she didn't serve us (poo). After that, I had to say goodbye to mum AND A who had to go study and spent most of the afternoon packing for Mexico and lounging around the house. A came home to watch the Canucks beat the Blues to go up in the series 3-0 (woot) and then we were off to Rugby Club for dinner. Amazing food, amazing friends, everything went by too quickly. The shirt H and T got me was fab, a little inside! I love it.

Can't say much else happened. While the recap seems longwinded and packed...the weekend didn't seem that busy at all. I loved every one of my gifts and enjoyed having most of my good friends attend the important things.

Back to real life yesterday...but only for four more days and then MEXICO!

PS Farzaneh if you're reading this...I MISS YOU!

Life, Love, Dodgeball

The past week has been a whirlwind! I've been so caught up in writing this one sociology paper that I've neglected almost everything (and everyone) else. This especially sucks because now I'm having to answer for the time I've been holed up like a hermit. And the worst worst worst part is, now everyone things I have no excuse to be a hermit anymore! Except that that's not even true because there are more papers and more homeworks and more readings and more EVERYTHING to be done. Always more.

FML.

I use that as a joke: FML. Because honestly, I don't have much to complain about, at least not lately.

Work is kind of blah. Of course, it would get busy during the one week that I needed absolutely nothing else to concentrate on but school. However, it all worked out pretty well (can't write papers 24/7 after all) and I managed to get all my work work done and my school work done and now it's FRIDAY! Tonight A, H and I are going to the Giants game. Should be a good one because Calgary has a pretty good WHL team. I'm excited because H and I are getting along great and of course A and I always do. There will be hockey, there will be beers! Two of my faves :)

After, I promised P I'd stop by his birthday. Honestly, I'd love to have gone for the whole thing but his friends make me feel awkward and uncomfortable. But it IS his birthday, so I'll stop by for a drink...

This weekend is void of plans, just the way I like it! I'm going to dim sum with T and A either tomorrow or Sunday but otherwise, there will be NOTHING! Except for homework. Sigh.

Dodgeball has been going well. Our Monday team is certainly better than our Wednesday team, but that was to be expected. We definitely traded up in terms of players...it's nice to have a team who actually has some passion and ambition. I'm excited for softball in the summer, although I really think a new team name is in order...definitely.

Anywho, I really should be either doing some work work or some school work.

I want this t-shirt:

Little Tornado

In my haste to see EVERYTHING there is to see in Toronto, I actually missed out on quite a few places that I'd planned to go. Once I got there, it seemed like pre-existing plans were irrelevant. I forgot about everything! I did manage to get to some of the stores I wanted to go to by chance (passing them on the street, suddenly remembering and heading in!) but skipped out on several.

Luckily, a lot of the local designers I wanted to look at, also stock some stores in Vancouver.

Chulo Pony @
JOOLS: 4255 Dunbar (and 26th ave)
LIFE OF RILEY: 3697 Main (and 21st ave)
LISETTE: 2308 West Broadway (and Vine st)

Dagg + Stacey @
MOONCRUISE: 235 Cambie (downtown at Water street/Trounce Alley)
PLEASANT GIRL: 2541 Main (and Broadway/10th ave)

House of Spy @
VASANJI: 1012 Mainland (off Nelson, just over the Cambie st. bridge)

So hopefully I'll be able to visit some of those places in the next little while. However, A and I are heading down to the states this Sunday to do some recession shopping...I hear there are great deals! I'm not planning to spend TOO much money, but since I spent so little in Toronto...I'm not going to hold back either. A asked me if I was going to get another pair of Uggs and I said no...of course, now I'm rethinking that. Maybe they're even a little cheaper because of the economy? I can only hope. Other than that, we're hitting up Bellis Fair, The Gap/LuLu Lemon Outlet at Burlington, Nordstrom Rack in Lynnwood and possibly Alderwood Mall and then my mecca, Northgate and their HUGE Forever XXI.

I. Can't. Wait.

Life is fairly busy right now. School, work, sleep. It's all I do.

TORONTO!

I recently returned from my trip to Toronto and realized I haven't blogged about it yet. At the request of a friend I saw on the bus this morning, here is a run down of my four days spent in the east!

SATURDAY February 14th, 2009

We got up at about 5am, dressed in total darkness, ate something small and headed off to the airport! A had given me two roses the night before (having left them on my pillow) and so valentines morning passed with little fanfare. A's dad had left us some chocolates on the kitchen counter which was nice but certainly not appropriate for 5am...we threw them in our bag for later.

We had already checked into our flight online (you can do that sort of thing now!) and so we breezed right through check-in at the airport. My bag was a little heavy (oops) but they didn’t charge me the extra fee which was nice. I have a tendency to over pack but I tried really hard to leave some room this time in the hopes that I would be doing some serious shopping.

We had some Tim Horton’s for breakfast, went through security easily and were boarding our plane in no time! It was still super early and I was still shaking off a sickness that I’d had for about a week now and the pressure in the cabin when we took off was RIDICULOUS for my ears. I had a whooshing sound in my left ear for the entire flight! Here is a picture of A and I on our way!

On the plane they give you some little snacks like Bits’N’Bites and some drinks (pop, coffee, water, juice) whatever you want. But the snacks like sandwiches are expensive! So I watched the movie Highschool Musical and studied for a mid-term I had in my sociology class coming up. We kept to ourselves mostly but talked a little. The flight didn’t feel that long and soon enough we were landing in Toronto!

Once we got off the plane we were both STARVING so we found some food and headed down to the concourse level to find some way to get from the airport to our hotel (it’s about half an hour out of Toronto). A nice man at an information booth told us that we would be able to either take the airport bus for 30 dollars both ways or get a cab for about 40-50 dollars one way. We went for the cab first, but they all quoted us 50-60 dollars one way. So, we ended up buying tickets for a ‘transfer’ bus which goes from the airport to all the major hotels. Because we were staying at the Westin Harbour Castle (which is a fairly well known hotel) we were included in that bus ride. It only took about twenty minutes/half an hour and we arrived at the Westin, pretty tired but also pretty excited.

This is A giving a half yawn, but which really looks like a fierce growl!

The hotel was MAYHEM! There were cars everywhere, people running around and the lobby was PACKED! We checked in and asked the guy why it was so damn busy and he sort of laughed at us and said it was their busiest day of the year: VALENTINES DAY! We had totally forgotten! Anyway, we went up to our room which was REALLY nice but had two double beds (not what we wanted).

We didn’t bother unpacking because the guy at the front desk said we could change to a room with a King bed the next day so we threw on our coats and hats and mittens and headed out into Toronto! We explored until we found the Subway station called UNION STATION. Toronto has an underground subway, which is really convenient and handy, but super expensive! $2.75 just to go ONE WAY with NO TRANSFERS!

This is me in the underground station called ST. PATRICK’S STATION.

We took the train all the way to Chinatown and got off for a walk through Chinatown and through Kensington Market. It was FREEZING out but we didn’t let it get to us! Kensington Market is so lovely. There are old antiques and vintage stores as well as little café’s and cheese stores and bakeries. Most things were closed because it was getting late but we walked around a little and found some places that were open. One was a huge market with clothing and pottery and paintings and all kinds of stuff. A and I tried on some hats:

I found a pair of yellow tights at this market thing that I really liked and said they were 5 dollars, however, when I got them up to the cash register the lady informed me that the price I had read was a mistake and that they were actually 25 dollars. No thanks! We left and decided we were hungry again. Well holy hell did we not plan for what was next…AGAIN we had forgotten it was VALENTINES DAY and every restaurant was PACKED!!!!!!!!!!!!

We tried to get a table at the Keg and the wait was an hour and a half, then we tried this other little cute looking tapas place and the wait was TWO hours. Although at the tapas place, we saw at least ONE table for two tucked away in a little corner and suspected that the lady working the front just didn't think we were dressed up enough to come inside. Lame. Finally we put our name in at a place called Bier Markt. It was an hour wait but we decided it was our last chance. Instead of waiting around, we headed back to the hotel quickly to change and found some neat statues on the way:

I had forgotten my ID also so it was a good thing we went back to the hotel because we were about to eat dinner at a place with over THREE HUNDRED beers on tap. Once changed, we decided to cab back to Bier Markt. Since it was Valentines Day A had decided to treat and so I picked whatever I wanted off the menu. I had mussels in white wine and A had hazelnut cheese fondue and we shared a BEER TESTER, which is six beers from around the world that they choose for you and you get these little testers! It was really neat. After dinner we were pretty much exhausted and freezing so we headed back to the hotel to turn in for the night and try to get an early start.

SUNDAY February 15th, 2009

We accidentally overslept (the alarm didn’t go off) and rushed to get ready for the Toronto Maple Leafs skills competition which involves the Leafs gathering at Air Canada Centre (their GM Place) and do a bunch of skills stuff. A and I decided to wear our CANUCKS shirts (which is totally insulting to Leafs fans) but we decided to do it anyway. Not really sure what to expect, both A and I were thinking maybe a LITTLE hostility, however, nobody said anything as we sat down or as we walked around exploring the outer ring of the ACC. Here is a picture of A with a picture of Sundin that we found in the Air Canada Centre:

Nobody said anything mean to us about wearing our Canucks shirts in their building but they sure gave us some dirty looks! That was funny though so we didn’t mind at all. Because we had had to get up quickly and run out the door, after the skills competition we headed straight back to the hotel to shower and get ready for the rest of the day. We decided to visit the CN Tower this day because we had the whole afternoon and it was BEAUTIFUL outside. Sunny, but still a bit cold. When we got back to the hotel we also found out that we could switch rooms to the king size bed because all the Valentines Day people had checked out. Here is a picture of A and I goofing around in the new room:

We headed off for the short walk to the CN Tower. The next few photos are pictures from up inside the CN Tower!

Not too many people will be a fan of this BUT there was a GLASS FLOOR in the CN Tower and here are some pictures of that! I even laid down on it!!!

After the CN Tower we walked up to where they film for Much Music and MTV Canada and then walked down Queen street for shopping. We headed back to the hotel because we were pooped for a little R and R and then, because we wanted to watch the Canucks game somewhere, we went to a Sports Bar near our hotel which claimed it had 50 TVS! It did! And they played the Canucks game for us easily! We had dinner there (pasta and salad) and a few beers and watched the Canucks WIN! Then we went back to the hotel for a sleep…and we needed it.

MONDAY February 16th, 2009

Monday was the day we dedicated to SHOPPING! But we chose the WORST day to do that because in Toronto (in Ontario) Monday February 16th is a HOLIDAY! It’s called FAMILY DAY! And holy cow...were the families out and about!

We headed out pretty early and all the way back to Kensington market to check out those vintage stores and boutiques. We started the morning off with breakfast at a café called Kensington’s (I had a crepe and A had a sandwich) and then we got to work! I bought two sweaters (black and yellow) for half price what they sell in Vancouver! From there we went through China town where I found two pairs of shoes for 15 dollars each (one pair of red and black and one pair of black and white) really cute...really cheap. We found our way to Queen Street West which has boutique like shopping. I didn’t really find anything there because some of the stores weren’t even open because of Family Day! That sucked big time. We walked all the way back to the big mall and went inside.

BIG MISTAKE! It was PACKED!!!!!!!!!

We couldn’t even use the washrooms because the lines were so long AND all the toilet paper was used up. How gross! So we made a quick exist and headed back out onto the street. It was super busy there too so we took the subway back to the hotel and had a little rest. We planned to go out to this place called BeerBistro for dinner on Monday night. They make all their food with beer! But we didn’t quite make it that far, instead we found a place called Richtree Market. I think they should have things like this in Vancouver. Basically, you are given a card (like a credit card) at the beginning of your entry into Richtree and then you walk around this market-type place and they have ALL KINDS OF FOOD! It’s a little expensive but in the end, not compared to a restaurant. There are steaks with potatoes. Quesadillas and Mexican foods. Asian type foods. Pasta, spaghetti’s and noodles. FISH AND SEAFOOD!!! And desserts and ice cream and a bar! You just ask for what you want and they swipe your card and when you’re done eating you pay when you leave. I had salmon and rice and A had some pasta dish. We shared a beer. Here are some photo’s from the market:

Then we headed out for some DRINKING! We went to Beer Bistro (where we were originally going to have dinner) and tried three different beers each in these little testers that they give you.

After the Beer Bistro we went to a place called the Flatiron and Firkin and had some more beers and then we headed back to the hotel. But not before we found a sculpture and had some fun with it:

TUESDAY February 17th, 2009

On Tuesday we planned to go to the Art Gallery of Ontario, (also known as the AGO). Unfortunately we couldn’t bring our cameras into the art gallery so there are no pictures of our time there. We saw many many many famous art pieces, it’s much better than the Vancouver Art Gallery. When we were finished, we headed back to Queen Street West to do even more shopping! We had a delicious lunch at this café called Queen Mother Café on Queen Street. I had Cannelloni with spinach and feta inside, a little salad and garlic bread, delicious! We also tried another local beer called Steamwhistle which had its brewery right near our hotel. It was pretty good but not great. We shopped our way back to the hotel, took another rest and then headed out for the hockey game. It was our last night so we decided to go to Wayne Gretzky’s restaurant/bar to watch the Canucks game. We walked part of the way and found the Hockey Hall of Fame. Here is a picture of A outside of it and one of me with some statues outside:

Wayne Gretzky's!

WEDNESDAY February 18th, 2009

Wednesday was our last day and boy were we sad to be leaving. I felt like I didn’t get to see enough and experience enough! But we packed up our bags, left them at the hotel front desk and headed out into the rain/snow mix outside to experience Toronto one last time. Unfortunately, I had a mid-term scheduled for my Sociology class that day so I had to find a café with internet and log onto my Langara homepage and take the exam. Luckily I was fairly prepared for the exam and A left me alone for about an hour to complete it. I knew all the answers and had a fairly relaxed time doing it. Once I was finished, we left the café and went across the street to the ROM, the Royal Ontario Museum. It looks pretty cool from the outside, however, inside the addition serves no purpose and actually we had to pay NINETEEN FREAKIN DOLLARS because they hiked the prices to pay for that stupid architectural piece on the outside. We got into a bit of a fight with the coat check lady because it costs money to check your coat but not your bag. So we shoved our coats INSIDE our bags and tried to give her the bag. She saw us do it and complained to her other coat check person and they told us we’d have to pay for the coats. Well, we weren’t going to do that on principal AND there was no way they could prove we had coats in the bag…so we said no. There was a big argument and basically we ended up just taking the coats out and wearing them all around the museum (which totally sucked because it was warm). But oh well.

The museum was pretty cool, there were lots of dinosaur skeletons and animal facts and Canadian history pieces. I took over a hundred photos but of course, that's far to many to display here. Just two:

Unfortunately, as soon as we were done the museum, it was time to head back to the hotel and get our bags and head to the airport. It was a sad trip back as the snow had picked up and it was FREEZING. We got our bags and waited an hour or so outside for the airport bus to come get us. I took this picture of Captain John’s Seafood Restaurant (beside our hotel) while we waited. See the snow? Just beyond the railing is the lake, frozen over with ice and snow…brr!

It was so cold and so frozen outside that this poor umbrella which had fallen into the lake, got frozen into it!

Anyway, the plane ride back was long and drawn out and I was very sleepy. We arrived at midnight Vancouver time which is 3am Toronto time and I made it back to A’s before passing out.

All in all, my first trip to Toronto was an amazing experience and I feel so lucky to have been able to just pick up and go like that. There was very little planning involved (really just a plane ticket and hotel purchase) and we were off! It gives me hope and confidence that I'll be able to travel more in the future.

As a side note, when I got home there was a letter from UBC informing me I'd been accepted for the fall semester.

Woo!

New Face

I gave my blog a new face today. I think it's quite pretty myself, although I'm not a huge fan of blue. The Lake sort of calls for it thought, doesn't it? Once I uploaded the picture, I knew it had to be blue all the way.

The past few days have been blurry. I've been more exhausted recently than usual, I'm not sure why. Despite trying to go to bed earlier this week, my body still protests when the alarm goes off. I swear I wasn't this tired last week. What's more, a strange darkness has taken over my upper eyelids. Mum thinks it's because I don't sleep enough, but it feels like something more. I'm worried it's my body's way of telling me I might be sick. I'd like to just suck it up and go to the doctor but it's so inconvenient having to wait at the walk-ins. And of course, if I do decide to go to the clinic, I'll feel guilty if I don't bring up the million other things wrong with me right now.

I'm beginning to think the itchiness is an allergy. I used to think it was just dry skin, but when 'A' spotted a hive the other day, I began to think it might be something else. In fact, I'm worried that I'm allergic to something I wear...

I went to the Canucks game last night on a $60 ticket. Sitting in the upper bowl is about as good as I remember it being. While the people are rougher than in the lower bowl, I think it makes for a better atmosphere. Hockey isn't meant to be watched by business men in suits trying to keep appearances. I really do resent all the season ticket holders who don't show up to the games. Give them away, action them off, donate to charity...do SOMETHING with them. It helps no one that those seats are empty night after night; not the team, not the other fans in the building and certainly not the people who aren't able to be at the game.

We lost. What's new? I'm not jumping off the bandwagon, because I DO feel a renewed sense of hope at the very beginning of each game, but they're really ruining it for me. I don't agree with the booing at the end, but I couldn't help but feel a little heartbroken when the final buzzer went. When it comes down to it, none of us know what they're feeling. None of us know how hard they're trying or how much they want it. None of us know. I can't listen to talk radio anymore, the negativity is awful.

I'm going to try to call the doctor again today to get a physical. Although, if it's going to cost me $100 and then more money on top of that to get the shots before I even find out if I'm going to get into the program...I'm not sure that it's worth it. Going through all of that and not even getting in will be tough. Although, with the discussions A and I have been having of late, going through all of that and getting IN might be even tougher. I'm trying not to think about it because it makes me really upset and if anything, the prospect of getting into this program should be nothing but exciting and happy and great. I may have already ruined it for myself.

16 days 'til Toronto and counting. I'm definitely more excited about Toronto than I am about Cabo, but that might change in the coming months. Of course, it will change after Toronto and with only Cabo in front of me. I'm beyond excited at the chance to spend a week alone with my two best friends. A lot has happened between the three of us and I think a week together will be good and hopefully cleansing. I haven't been the greatest friend lately but I do want to change that. I realized in the past couple days that other than my family, they're the only solid thing in my life. I've done some pretty terrible things to them in the past and they've stuck by me. There's never any question that we'll remain friends but it's up to all three of us to decide how good of friends we'll be. I think we can be as close as ever, we just have to work at it.

It's only 10:07am and I'm about ready to pack it in for the day. My eyes just won't stay open. I can't tell if that's because I didn't sleep enough or if it's the actual eyelid problem. Whatever it is, it's not very ideal with more than 6 hours of a workday still ahead of me. The worst thing is, I don't even have an evening to look forward to, which is a truly awful thing to say considering we're supposed to be going to S's game tonight. It's not that I don't want to go because of the hockey or because it's S...I'm just plain exhausted, spent, dead. Maybe I'll ask A to leave me when he goes...but I don't want that either. I'd prefer if he stayed, thought I don't think I can ask that of him.

I think I'm going to try to do actual work now...lots of specs to format.

Toronto on a Budget

I likely won't be doing 'Toronto on a budget' but I thought I would create one anyway.

I figure A and I will eat at least two meals out a day. We'll buy groceries and hopefully be able to make little things in our room like breakfast or a lunch here and there.

4 full days times 2 meals a day equals 8 total meals.

8 meals times 20 dollars per meal equals 160 dollars.

We'll round it up to 200 for good measure.

Not that I know much about this stuff, but we'll be vising galleries and other such attractions. I'll assume that entry to such places on a student discount would be anywhere from 10 dollars to 20 dollars.

5 galleries (max, seriously...I'm not visiting more than five) at 15 dollars each equals 75 dollars.

Nights out will account for quite a bit of my money I imagine as we'll be visiting different bars and such.

3 drinks per night (exaggeration) times 4 nights equals 12 drinks.

12 drinks times 7/8 dollars per drink equals 85 dollars.

And the biggest money grab...shopping. I'm not going to make a budget for this, but I'm going to try to spend only a few hundred dollars. It won't be hard...

So for everything other than shopping, I'll need about 350-400 dollars.

What I expected.

Vintage Me

When I wrote that title just now I realized it sounds more like I'm going to be sharing vintage stories or photo's of me, but alas, that is not the case.

Instead, I'm researching vintage clothing stores in Toronto for A and I to visit while we're there. Thus far, I have a huge standing list and will need to compile my thoughts/information somewhere.

This is a good a place as any...

In no particular order:

1. Cats Meow Couture @ 180 Avenue Road; 647.435.5875
-The images on the site's opening page are beautiful, displaying several dresses, hats, bags and my favorite...shoes!
-They keep a blog announcing new items on the regular.
-They have a sale room in the back.
-As for pricing, from what I can tell we're looking at seriously expensive couture, probably quite out of my range
-4.9km from the hotel
VERDICT: Skip

2. Brava @ 553 Queen Street West

-The first thing I notice when I reach their website is the tacky images and awfully thrown together site...however, a bad website does not mean a bad vintage store.
-The dresses in their images are pretty enough, nothing special.
-Most look like bad prom dresses, but there may be a few hidden gems.
-3km from the hotel
VERDICT: Probable

3. Assylm @ 42 Kensington Avenue
-Has no website
-In Kensington Market (which A wants to check out anyway, so I imagine this will be an easy choice to pop into)
-They do vintage jeans, which might be neat
-One review notes an Anne Klein scarf found at the bottom of a bargain bin.

My list began with 14 but I've cut one that I would just...never be able to go to: Cabaret. Sigh, to be rich. I DO realize Toronto is still 26 days away, but I can't help getting excited for it already.

And now, because I feel like it. Some vintage ME:

i carry your heart - e.e. cummings

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart) i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go, my dear and whatever is done
by only me is your doing, my darling)
i fear
not fate(for you are my fate, my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world, my true)
and its you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or the mind can hide)
and this is the wonder thats keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

As far as times go, it's not that impressive. I'm a fan of 11:11 and 12:21 for knocking. He's a fan of 12:51, although sometimes I think that's only because he's a Strokes fan.

Today is uneventful. It's already past the halfway point in my day and I've done very little. I've managed to make it up to Safeway to get some food for work, everyday stuff.

Bananas
Yogurt
Crackers
Cream Cheese
Oatmeal
Cheese
etc.

I find I spend less money when I have these things at work already, always a plus.

Yesterday my boyfriend found out about my blog. I guess I told him, in a roundabout way, but the thought is still a little unnerving. RIGHT NOW he could be reading these very words. Or at least, someday he will. I'm very apprehensive about letting him read things I write because he has such an amazing talent with words that nothing I write really could compare. (I'm not trying to stroke your ego if you're reading this!) Ha!

The long arm of the (office) law has extended itself even further in the workplace today, no music streaming. For myself, who has very little to do some days, this is a devastating blow. I didn't ask, for fear of causing some sort of review of my work performance, but I imagine video streaming is even worse. I've done that. I don't feel that bad for myself though, at least I'm not staring at AutoCAD all day. It could be worse.

My best friend and my boyfriends best friend started dating last week. It doesn't come as a surprise considering they've been doing all the things a couple might do but without the classification and title. I'm happy for them, really. I think the dynamic in our group of friends will change, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. After all, our friends have already been through it with myself and A; because of that H and M will have an easy time with it. Maybe they'll appreciate the awkward position we were put in at the beginning now, H already admitted to me that he was grateful that we sort of led the way over a year ago in terms of guidelines for being in a relationship within a group of friends. I have hope. Not to mention the double date potential!

I just looked up the definition of a blog to make sure I was doing it right, I am.

And now, a random image from the internet!
